Almost half of the Swedish population say that the most time-consuming everyday task is figuring out what to eat for dinner, which according to research leads to unnecessary conflicts.
The aim of the app is to inspire people to try new recipes and raise awareness about food waste and climate impact.
According to a survey by Kantar Sifo, 44% of the Swedish population think that the most time-consuming everyday task is figuring out what to eat for dinner. The figure is even higher for parents with young children.
In addition to being time-consuming, research also shows that discussions about what to eat contribute to unnecessary conflicts.
To get inspiration for my service, I downloaded similar services to compare good and less good features and functions that I personally lacked and that would fit well in this service.
I created two personas that represent the average user of the service. By keeping my personas in mind, I visualized their reality, challenges and problems. This allowed me to create relevant and valuable features for them.
To get a better understanding of how the user uses my service, I created a customer journey map. The map includes touch points and pain points to find parts of the customer journey that can be improved.
Creating a user flow and storyboard gave me a clearer picture of the steps the user takes in the service. It also helped me to structure the flow and the pages to be developed for user testing.
To get a minimalistic and harmonious look, I chose calm colors that have a contrast ratio of 6.72:1 (WCAG AA for normal text size).
I chose two fonts, Qaligo for the logo and League Spartan which is a sans serif font for all other text in the app. I have worked with hierarchies and followed the WCAG web guidelines when choosing the text size, all text in the prototype is at least 16 pixels, to ensure good readability throughout the prototype and achieve the
throughout the prototype and meet accessibility requirements.
I conducted a total of 5 usability tests where I guided the test participants and asked them to perform a number of tasks. I encouraged users to think out loud about what they saw, experienced and felt.
I asked the participants which features they liked and disliked and if there were any other features they would like to see in the service.
